Welcome to Oak Studio!
A hub of arts, crafts and creativity located in Hampstead, North London. We have a lovely shop selling handmade homewares, cards and gifts which doubles as a craft workshop space where we hold regular classes, and as a gallery for exhibitions.

Sew a Royal Corsage!
- Saturday 2 June, 10.30am – 1.30pm
Join Tatiana for this lovely Jubilee inspired workshop to create a bespoke corsage using a selection of vintage and new fabrics, braid, beads, buttons and other sparkly treats from Tatiana’s jewellery box. Practise and improve your sewing skills and take home a unique handmade brooch to wear and enjoy.

Introduction to Crochet
- Tuesday 5 June, 10.30am – 12.30pm
In this 2 hour beginner’s crochet class you will learn all the basics of crochet, how to make a chain and get started with crocheting your first piece. In keeping with a summer full of festivities in the city we are going to show you how to make a line of colourful crochet bunting to adorn your house, garden or summer fete. You will learn all the basic stitches and make triangle samples with various patterns and textures that you can then string together.
All materials and hooks will be provided, but if you have any spare ends of wool at home that you would like to use please do bring them along with you.

Knitting Course: All Levels
- 6 weeks: Thursday 14 June – Thursday 19 July, 10am – 12pm
Join expert knitter Monica Russel for this 6 week knitting course, all levels are welcome and Monica will work with you to achieve your goals. Beginners will learn the very basics including casting on and off, knitting the basic stitches and embarking on their first knitting projects. More advanced knitters will be shown more complicated techniques from increasing and decreasing, how to read patterns, create their own motifs as well as intarsia and Fair Isle – it’s up to you! We provide basic wool and needle supplies to get started with, and wool is also available to buy from Monica – though please feel free to bring anything with you that would like to use.

Make a Vintage Plate Cake Stand
- Saturday 16 June, 10.30am – 12pm
Learn how to turn vintage plates into an unusual and eye-catching 3 tier cake or canapé stand in this immensely satisfying class. We supply a great selection of pretty vintage plates which you will choose from to create your bespoke stand, or please feel free to bring your own plates. You will then learn how to drill through your plates and fix them together using a cake stand fitting which is also provided, choose from gold or silver in a variety of styles. Extra fittings will also be available to buy on the day.

Introduction to Cake Pops!
- Saturday 30 June, 10.30am – 12.30pm
The latest big thing in cakes! Make a selection of unique, fun and delicious Cake Pops – little orbs of cake on sticks, which you will ice and decorate in an array of fun designs, be as imaginative as you like – these fun mini cakes will charm your family and friends and they are also great as an alternative to cupcakes for kid’s parties. Our highly experienced chef Leigh trained in New York before coming to London and will guide you through the session expertly and you’ll leave with a bag of delicious cake pops and the recipes to make more!

Celebration Cake Decorating
- Saturday 30 June, 1.30pm – 4pm
Have a special occasion coming up that you would like to make a special and unique cake for? Then this is class for you, come and learn how to ice a cake with a professional finish using fondant icing and how to make flowers using sugar paste to adorn your cake with. You will also have a go at improving your piping techniques. The cake will be provided for this session and you will also be giving recipes and tips so you can perfect your baking and decorating techniques at home. Leigh from Craft Cakes is an experienced cake baker and teacher.

Introduction to Bookbinding
- Sunday 1 July, 2pm – 4pm
Join us at the Studio for this rewarding 2 hour workshop where you will learn the basics of bookbinding. In the 2 hour session you will make a small hardback case-bound notebook using patterened papers and get an insight to the art of bookbinding, and the materials and equipment needed. You will also leave with a list of everything you need to make more books at home and with the skills you need to make them!

Papercutting with Folk Art Papercuts
- Wednesday 4 July, 10am – 1pm
Join Suzy Taylor and learn the art of papercutting, you’ll be taught how to create an intricate papercut of your own design from a single sheet of paper! Your finished piece will be 15cm x 15cm – so nothing too intimidating. You’ll leave with at least one finished paper cut of your own design and creation, complete with mounting card and a cellophane sleeve to protect your artwork, plus tips for permanent mounting. All tools and materials are provided, including quality cutting papers and mounting card in a wide assortment of colours.
It may be useful to bring some images or drawings with you for inspiration. There will also be plenty of books available at the workshop for you to look at. Cutting mats, knives and paper will be available to purchase at the end of the workshop.

Knit Night
- Every Wednesday, 6.30pm – 8pm
Our regular Wednesday evening Knit Night is in full swing – we are also inviting all you hand sewers and crochet masters out there to come and join us to work on your projects, meet like-minded people, use our equipment and enjoy a cup of tea, a biscuit and a friendly chat in the relaxed surroundings of the Studio.
Cost: £10 per person – advice given and we also have some needles and yarns available, as well as a fully stocked sewing box. Led by: Thea Ellis
Sewing Machines for Hire!
You are welcome to come and use the Oak Studio sewing machines for your own projects, just send us an email to book your slot and we’ll have it set up for you and ready to go. £8 p/hour which includes use of our fully stocked sewing box.
General information:
- 50% deposit is required on booking, which can be paid by cash or cheque made payable to ‘Oak Studio’. We also accept card payments via PayPal and in the Studio.
- Adult workshops are usually suitable for ages 12 and up.
- We are happy for you to give your place on a session to a friend but we are unable to refund deposits.

Workshops at the Oak Studio will usually cater for 6 – 8 people, depending on the class.

Oak Studio reserve the right to cancel and/or change workshop details at short notice. Any deposits will be refunded.

Oak Studio will provide the teacher and the materials for the workshops, which will be included in the cost. If there is anything extra you need to bring or any special requirements, we will make this clear on booking.
