Into The Woods for London Design Festival
Sannapanda & Friends will be taking over Oak Studio for this year’s London Design Festival. Upstairs will be a Collective shop showcasing the work of 30 designer-makers, and down in the basement there will be workshops and other crafty activities going on during the 10-day event.

Below is a list of the workshops and classes that need to booked in advance, to avoid disappointment. You can do this in the shop, via email thecrafttrail@gmail.com or online bookings taken at http://intothewoodsldf.eventbrite.co.uk/ (subject to booking fee)
There will be various free craft projects going on too, which anyone is welcome to drop-in to join in with, more info will be available during the event, so please call back in or email at the above address if you are interested.

Saturday 15th Sept
10.30am-12noon Vintage Cake Stand Class - £35
Learn how to turn vintage plates into a 3 tier cake stand. We supply a wide selection of plates you can choose from to create your bespoke stand, or you can bring your own.
1-4pm Meet the Author – Knitted Boot Cuffs book launch - free
Oak Studio’s Monica Russel is launching her first book Knitted Boot Cuffs, available to buy for £4.99. You can also sign up for her 1-day Boot Cuff course next month.
Sunday 16th Sept
12-2pm Owl Mask Making Workshop - £3.00 or suitable donations accepted
Come and create the wisest characters in the wood. Materials provided to make your own designs or just decorate some pre-cut masks. Suitable for adults and kids.
POSTPONED! Hopefully to be rescheduled soon – Tree Brooch Making - £18
Learn to make forest creatures with Craft Guerrilla. You’ll learn to make a palm sized creature which you can use as a brooch. Choose from a selection of patterns to use.
Monday 17th Sept
2-4pm Learn to Crochet a 5-petal Flower - £20
You will learn the basic stitches needed to make a flower which if you want you can then make into a brooch or attach to a greeting card. Beginners welcome, materials provided,
Tuesday 18th Sept
2-4pm Needle Felt a 3D bird - £25
Learn the basics of needle felting, with Debbie from Craft Guerrilla, to create from a handful of wool fibres your very own birdie to take home! All materials provided
Wednesday 19th Sept
6.30-8pm Knit Club - £10 (includes tea and biscuits)
Oak Studio’s weekly Knit night. Come with a knitting or crochet project and join some of the regulars for a sociable evening of crafting, with experienced knitter on hand if you need any help.
Thursday 20th Sept
6-9pm Meet the Makers evening – free
Come drink, be merry and meet some of our makers at our late shopping evening. To celebrate our Into The Woods – Sannapanda & friends’ collective shop as part of this year’s London Design We have been sponsored by Tiger Stores, who have provided us with lots of snacks, soft drinks
and goodies and Finlandia Vodka have donated us a few bottles of their finest vodka.
Friday 21st Sept
4-5.30pm Design and Screen-print a Tote Bag – £15
Create your own design using paper stencils and then learn how to hand screen print it onto a cotton tote bag for you to keep. A great workshop to introduce you to the art of screen printing.
Saturday 22nd Sept
12-2pm Decorated Wooden Birds and Animals – £10
Craft some fun and foresty wooden hangings! Pre-cut wooden shapes will be available for you to make cute woodland squirrels and foxes, birds, owls & leaves to decorate with colour and pattern.
2.30pm – 3.30pm – Introduction to the Ukulele – £5
You will be taught some basic chords and learn a little about the ukulele. No previous musical experience required. Ukuleles will be provided to use during the session. Adults & children welcome (children aged 7-10 should be accompanied by a participating adult)
Sunday 23rd Sept
1-3pm Build your Dream Home – Paper-cutting workshop – £18
Using basic paper sculpture techniques you will design and make a fantasy house. Starting from a template, you will be thought how to translate your ideas in an interesting design by using basic paper sculpture techniques such as cutting, folding, scoring and embossing. (over 12 yr olds only)
3.30-4.30pm Turn your Doodles into Mugs! – free to doodle, prices vary for cups.
Come and draw a picture, or bring one from home and Nadia Sparham will collect them up to make it into your own customised crockery! Price list available for customer orders.
