Monica Russel will be running a Boot Topper day workshop inspired by her recent book on Saturday 10 November from 10.30am – 3.30pm (with a break for lunch), where you will learn how to knit a pair of boot toppers of your choice – all materials and a copy of the book will be included in the price of the class which is £65.

We are also squeezing in a last knitting course before Christmas where you can come along and complete any Christmas presents or projects you have been working on, this course will run for 4 weeks on Tuesday mornings from 10am – 12pm and the dates are: Tuesday 20 November – Tuesday 11 December and will cost £100. Again, please let us know if you want to join up as the group will be limited.

And finally, if you wanted to book in any private knitting sessions for some one on one time, we would be glad to accommodate so let us know when suits you and what you would like to do during the session.

Into The Woods for London Design Festival

Sannapanda & Friends will be taking over Oak Studio for this year’s London Design Festival. Upstairs will be a Collective shop showcasing the work of 30 designer-makers, and down in the basement there will be workshops and other crafty activities going on during the 10-day event.

4-5.30pm Design and Screen-print a Tote Bag – £15

Create your own design using paper stencils and then learn how to hand screen print it onto a cotton tote bag for you to keep. A great workshop to introduce you to the art of screen printing.

Saturday 22nd Sept

12-2pm Decorated Wooden Birds and Animals – £10

Craft some fun and foresty wooden hangings! Pre-cut wooden shapes will be available for you to make cute woodland squirrels and foxes, birds, owls & leaves to decorate with colour and pattern.

2.30pm – 3.30pm – Introduction to the Ukulele – £5

You will be taught some basic chords and learn a little about the ukulele. No previous musical experience required. Ukuleles will be provided to use during the session. Adults & children welcome (children aged 7-10 should be accompanied by a participating adult)

1-3pm  Build your Dream Home – Paper-cutting workshop – £18

Using basic paper sculpture techniques you will design and make a fantasy house. Starting from a template, you will be thought how to translate your ideas in an interesting design by using basic paper sculpture techniques such as cutting, folding, scoring and embossing. (over 12 yr olds only)

3.30-4.30pm Turn your Doodles into Mugs! – free to doodle, prices vary for cups.

Come and draw a picture, or bring one from home and Nadia Sparham will collect them up to make it into your own customised crockery! Price list available for customer orders.

Anna Wiscombe and Sanna King are curating a Forest-themed collective  shop together at Oak Studio for London Design Festival

From September 14th-23rd, as part of this year’s London Design Festival, Sannapanda & friends will transform Oak Studio into an enchanted forest full of fantastical creatures and handmade treasures.

Anna Wiscombe makes beautiful handmade painted wooden birds to wear and adorn your walls, while Sannapanda produces screenprinted felt sleepy sets to keep you cosy and snug at home or on your travels. Both of their work is inspired by forests and its inhabitants, so it seemed like a perfect pairing to come together and create a setting that would evoke this in the aptly-named Oak Studio, Hampstead.

Together they have handpicked a selection of fantastic designer-makers who either already produce work of the same forest theme, or have created pieces specifically for the event, and there will be workshops* and craft projects to join in with every day during the 10-day event.

*Some require booking in advance either online or by popping into the shop.

We have a one day knitting workshop this Thursday at Oak Studio where you can have a go at knitting a pair of boot toppers with Monica Russel who has recently had a book published by Search Press full of her colourful and creative designs – you will be knitting from a selection of her patterns in this fun and informative one day workshop. Monica will also be starting another of her ever popular 6 week knitting courses this month, which take place on a Thursday morning and are suitable for all levels of knitters from very beginners to those who are more advanced and want to extend their knitting skills – further details are below and please contact us with any more questions.

Six week Knitting Course: All Levels

• Thursday 30 August, 10am – 12pm

Join Monica Russel for this 6 week knitting workshop for all levels. Whatever your knitting ability from beginner to advanced, Monica will be on hand to help guide you through new projects and learn new skills. Beginners will learn all the basics such as how to cast on and off, and the knit and purl stitch and will embark on their first knitting project. More advanced knitters can learn how to increase and decrease stitches, change wool colour as well as more complex knitting skills such as Fair Isle and Intarsia. Needles and wool can be borrowed from the Studio and Monica also sells a selection of high quality yarn and needles. This is a friendly and informal sessions where students are taught in small groups to ensure they get plenty of attention and support.
